Working as a counsellor is both a privilege and a creative process. I find deep satisfaction in helping my clients grow and I enjoy tapping into my creativity to facilitate the process of change. Counselling people has always felt natural, flowing and easy. It is my gift and I feel grateful for it.
I believe that the human psyche is rich, mysterious and complex, and that in order to most effectively help my clients it is best to be trained in various modalities. Therefore, in addition to obtaining my Master in Transpersonal Counselling Psychology, I trained in Hakomi Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Art and Play therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral therapy, PAIRS and EMDR. Each of these approaches have their unique gifts which allows me to tailor each treatment approach accordingly to each client’s needs.
I also developed a unique three-phased approach for working with traumatized adolescents integrating Art Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and somatic regulation, and published this work in the Canadian Art Therapy Association Journal in the spring of 2004. I also presented internationally at various professional conferences.
